THA Chief Secretary Farley Augustine says Tobago will look on with concern to see whether the State of Emergency will address crime on the island.
He notes that officials in Tobago have been calling for heightened police activity in a year where criminal activity appeared to threaten the fabric of existence.
During this time, he says, there have been 26 murders.
Meanwhile, Mr Augustine hopes that law enforcement will discharge their increased powers dutifully but reminded citizens that the safeguards of the constitution are now suspended.
