Oil tankers from Oil Mop Environmental Services are in Tobago to help suction oil in Scarborough, Lambeau and other areas.
Also, as efforts continue to contain and clean the oil spill, TEMA is urging persons to adhere to restrictions put in place as a result.
These include access to locations such as Petit Trou Lambeau, Scarborough Stage by the sea and along the beachfront on Milford Road, the boardwalk in Magdalena and in and around the Cove Eco Industrial and Business Park.
Boat operators and fishermen are also being urged to steer clear of the overturned vessel and affected waters.
Meanwhile, Couva North MP Ravi Ratiram says he is concerned about the environmental impact, clean-up methods, and the government’s response to the oil spill in Tobago.
In a statement, he says questions have been raised about the methods used for clean-up and whether adequate testing has been done to identify the spill’s contents and assess its ecological impact.
He also believes there is a lack of a clear plan from the government regarding the clean-up process and is calling for clarity on the duration and cost of the clean-up.
