T&T’s Bertrand misses out on 100m final; Jamaica’s Fraser-Pryce “DNS”

T&T sprinter Leah Bertrand has not qualified for the final of the 2024 Olympics Women’s 100m.

Bertrand finished semi-final three in 9th place with a time of 11.37, with Jamaica’s Tia Clayton and Great Britain’s Daryll Neita finishing first and second, taking the automatic qualifying spots.

Ahead of Bertrand’s semi, there was a shocking development when Jamaica legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was given a “did not start” for semi-final two.

According to the Olympics website, Fraser-Pryce withdrew from the race, but it did not give any further details, simply noting that she is still scheduled to run with the Jamaicans’ 4x100m relay team.

She was looking to claim a medal in the 100m for a fifth consecutive Games.
