Suspects held after Curepe robbery

Three suspects were held shortly after a robbery in Curepe yesterday afternoon.

Around 1:30pm, four masked men, one armed with a gun, stormed a business and stole an assortment of goods and cash before escaping in an awaiting silver X-Trail motor vehicle.

Responding officers attempted to intercept the suspects by blocking both sides of the Eastern Main Road between Hutton Road and Farm Road, St. Joseph.

The TTPS says as the vehicle approached the road block, one of the occupants pointed an object resembling a gun at them, resulting in an officer discharging his firearm.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop a short distance away, with the suspects attempting to flee.

Three were held, one of whom sustained a gunshot wound to the upper left shoulder.

He was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex for treatment.

Quantities of goods and cash were recovered from the vehicle.

The TTPS says assistance was sought from the North Central Division Task Force, Area East, the Emergency Response Patrol and the Air Support Unit to locate the fourth suspect and a firearm.

The three detained suspects are between the ages of 18 and 26.
