A suspected bandit is dead and his accomplice was injured, following an attempted robbery at a bar in Arouca early today.

The Guadian reported that around 1:45m, two men confronted patrons and tried to rob them, threatening them with a big stone

As they ran onto the main road, one of them was struck by a passing vehicle, and according to the article, patrons gathered around them and began beating them.

Police were called and took both suspects to hospital, where one was declared dead and the other was treated for minor injuries.
