A man was shot and wounded by police in Tunapuna.
Yesterday, officers responding to reports of a robbery confronted a suspect in the vicinity of the Tunapuna Market.
He was shot after allegedly pointing a firearm at the officers.
A second suspect attempted to escape in a vehicle, but was held a short distance away.
A Smith and Wesson pistol loaded with a magazine containing 14 rounds of ammunition was seized at the scene.
Meanwhile, in the Southern Division, three persons were held during an anti-crime exercise conducted between 3pm and 7pm yesterday:
- A 43-year-old San Fernando mason was arrested for possession of a pistol, seven rounds of ammunition and a quantity of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
- A 31-year-old labourer from Palmiste was held for possession of marijuana.
- A 23-year-old Venezuelan national was held for possession quantities of cocaine and marijuana.
