Student Permit Exemption Certificates handed out to migrant students

Children of registered Venezuelan migrants will be able to start school in September.

According to the Ministry, the move is in compliance with the Immigration (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2024.

The guidelines for admission were developed in collaboration with the National Security Ministry and will apply to Venezuelan nationals under the age of 18, whose Parents/Legal Guardians registered in 2019 and continue to register yearly under the Migrant Registration Framework.

This morning, Student Permit Exemption Certificates  were presented to a number of migrant students at the Ministry’s Head Office in Port of Spain.

According to Education Minister Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, 23 have so far been admitted, with several others in various stages of getting their documentation in order.
