Stuart Young S.C. has been sworn in as the 8th Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago by President Christine Kangaloo.
In a ceremony this morning at President’s House, Mr Young took his oath of office before receiving his instrument of appointment from the President.
In his inaugural address, Mr Young expressed his honour to be Prime Minister, adding that it is in his life’s work to fight for and work on behalf the people of this nation.
He also outlined his role as he assumes leadership of the country.
In his first official duty as Prime Minister, he will announce the new cabinet at 3PM today.
However one change has already been announced: Camille Robinson-Regis was this morning sworn in as the new Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs under Section 77.3 of the Constitution.
Meanwhile as the swearing in took place, a number of citizens staged a demonstration at the Queen’s Park Savannah, opposite President’s House.
Many were armed with placards criticizing the PNM and former Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley.
There were also chants of “Call the Election now!”
