Stuart Young says he is not contesting any post in the PNM’s upcoming internal elections.
Today is Nomination Day for the poll which is scheduled to take place on June 22nd, 2025.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page today, Mr Young said he took time immediately after the General Election to engage in personal reflection and observe the conduct of people, particularly “those who seek positions that carry responsibility”.
He adds, “After considered reflection, as well as discussions with my family and loved ones, I have concluded that it is not in the best interest of the party for me to seek a post in the new executive. Accordingly, at this juncture I will not be seeking a post in the PNM’s internal elections.”
He added that he will continue to fulfil his duties and responsibilities as an elected MP, to the country and to the PNM.
As at 5:45PM today (June 2nd), the PNM has not yet announced those filing their nominations papers to contest the internal election.
