A 22-year-old man was held as police recovered a stolen vehicle at the Piarco International Airport this morning.

Shortly after 8:30am, a man was attempting to exit the carpark area in a black Volkswagen Taureg SUV when security guards noted a discrepancy with his parking receipt.

The guards alerted the Airports Authority who dispatched security officers to the scene and contacted the police.

The suspect attempted to flee by speeding through the exit barrier, however he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a fence on the western side of the Airport.

Then man then attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended without incident.
