A steel pan chroming facility will be established in El Socorro, adopting international standards.

Trade Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon explained in Parliament that the chroming of the pan enhances its appearance and acoustics, and protects it from corrosion.

However, the Minister noted that the absence of a steelpan chroming facility locally has caused manufacturers headaches.
