St Vincent’s government is expected to go to parliament this week to approve approximately EC$140m in funds to help recovery following Hurricane Beryl.
According to a report by the St Vincent Times, the announcement was made on Sunday by Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves.
The Prime Minister said the Standing Committee of Finance of the House of Assembly would convene to consider a supplementary estimate and a supplementary appropriation bill to go to Parliament on Thursday.
He added that this is the first set of supplementary estimates and a supplementary appropriation bill for this stage of addressing the disaster.
Mr Gonsalves noted that a similar approach was taken for the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and the volcanic eruptions in 2021.
