As of April 1st, the distribution of plastic T-shirt bags in St Kitts has been banned under the newly enacted 2025 Waste Reduction Act.
The Department of Environment announced that businesses which continue the practice can face fines up to $3000 for a first offense and up to $15,000 for repeated offenses.
This is part of the island’s three phase project to eliminate single use plastics, including Styrofoam food containers, plastics straws, cutlery and utensils by November 30th 2025.
