An early morning accident along the highway near Mausica has led to the death of a 33-year-old Special Reserve Police officer.
According to a Newsday report, the accident took place around 4:50am, as Constable Kemron Purcell of Arima was heading east.
He lost control of the vehicle and it collided with a lamp post near the intersection.
He reportedly died at the scene and his body was removed to the mortuary for an autopsy to be done this week.
The article noted that PC Purcell was last based at the community-oriented police section of the Maloney Police Station.
