A special EC$2 note has been unveiled, featuring a portrait of West Indies cricket legend, Sir Vivian Richards.

According to the Antigua Observer, an unveiling took place last Friday as a tribute marking the 40th anniversary of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union’s establishment.

The idea was originally suggested by Prime Minister Gaston Browne, and received the unanimous approval of the union’s Monetary Council.

The EC$2 commemorative note is set to be released on December 6th but it will not be available from ATMs.

Sir Viv was given the very first note during the unveiling ceremony.
