South Africa will replace Sri Lanka as hosts for the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup 2024.
This was announced by the ICC today following a meeting of it Board.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) was recently suspended by the ICC for breaching its obligations as a Member, namely for failing to manage its affairs autonomously and without government interference.
The ICC says while Sri Lanka can continue to compete internationally both in bilateral cricket and ICC events, funding to SLC will be controlled by the ICC.
As a result, it says the U19 event has been moved to South Africa, which hosted the Women’s U19 T20 World Cup earlier this year.
