In Jamaica, authorities say that social media stalkers are targeting mainly teen girls and as such, urging parents to monitor their daughters’ social media accounts.
Head of the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Superintendent Kerry-Ann Bailey said supervision the key to reduce the statistics.
She encouraged parents to apply the same attention given to monitor toddlers to their teen girls, apply parental controls on their devices.
Ms Bailey added that predators use varying cloaks to interrogate the children, especially on social media platforms such as Tik Tok and Instagram, and even via games such as Roblox, where they access personal information that can lead to dangerous crimes.
