The family of local singer Sunil Ramsundar was tied up and robbed by 10 men during a home invasion in Carapichaima last night.
103.1FM spoke with Mr. Ramsundar who says he was at a gig in Debe when he got a call around 11:30pm.
Around 10pm, the men reportedly stormed the house at Ragoonanan Road, Perseverance Road and tied up his wife, two children, step-daughter and her boyfriend.
According to Mr. Ramsundar, they demanded a bag of money and a gold chain, and forced his son to take them around the house.
After ransacking the rooms, the intruders escaped with a bag containing $80,000, jewellery, cell phones and other items.
No one was physically hurt during the ordeal which lasted about an hour.
However, Mr. Ramsundar is now fearful for their safety, as the men took the house key and vowed to return.
He laments that the country is not safe anymore and has been contemplating drastic measures to keep his family safe.
Mr. Ramsundar also recalled about three years ago, he received a threatening phone-call from someone demanding a large sum of money.
He adds however that nothing came of that, with no arrest made and no further action by the caller.
