Road works, slope stabilization and other ancillary works on the Chaguanas to Chase Village highway expansion are expected to be finished by the end of March 2025.
This is according to Works Minister Rohan Sinanan who responded to questions about the project in Parliament.
The widening of the highway to six lanes was initially expected to be completed by August 2024 however it has been delayed.
Minister Sinanan said the main challenge has been working on a site already in use, along with weather-related challenges.
However, he assured that road works including median and asphalt works are expected to be done by the end of February, while slope stabilization and other ancillary works on the acceleration and deceleration ramps of Chaguanas overpass are expected to be done by end of March.
The Minister insisted that, despite the delays, there have been no cost overruns.
