Shepherd, Joseph, Hope star as WI secure series win over SA

Three-wicket hauls for Romario Shepherd and Shamar Joseph bowled West Indies to a series-winning victory in the second T20I against South Africa.

South Africa won the toss and chose to bowl first, looking to bounce back from a seven-wicket defeat in the first T20I at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.

However, despite a solid middle-phase bowling effort, West Indies put on 179/6 with a top score of 41 from Shai Hope.

Then Shepherd (3/15) and Joseph (3/31) helped West Indies reel in the Proteas after a good start to their chase, which was at one point, 129/3.

Akeal Hosein also grabbed two wickets, Gudakesh Motie took one and Matthew Forde bowled Ottneil Baartman to see South Africa toppled for 149 in 19.4 overs – short by 30 runs.

West Indies now have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series which wraps up on Tuesday at the same venue.
