Shell greenlights Aphrodite

Shell has approved the Aphrodite gas project located in the East Coast Marine Area (ECMA).

Production is expected to start in 2027, with an estimated peak production of approximately 18,400 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

The gas will supply Atlantic LNG, boosting overall capacity.

Shell says the project will help stabilize the local gas market and support the power and petrochemical sectors.

Senior Vice President and Country Chair Adam Lowmass said the investment reflects Shell’s long-term commitment to Trinidad and Tobago’s energy future.

Final regulatory approvals are still pending.
