With aims of increasing donations for this country’s blood bank, SEWA TT will host its 48th blood drive on Saturday June 14th at the Mount Hope Blood Bank.
This drive will be done in collaboration with the T&T Medical Association.
Speaking with 103.1FM News today, SEWA TT’s President Revan Teelucksingh emphasized the importance of giving blood.
Mr Teelucksingh also shared some statistics on where T&T is in terms of sustaining the blood bank and where it needs to be.
The SEWA TT President also gave insight on who is eligible able to give blood.
Mr Teelucksingh explained the current process for blood donation and receiving blood once a donation has been made.
The SEWA TT President added that this system is complicated and believes an increase in blood donations and a full transition to the Voluntary Non-Remunerated Donation system can streamline the process and alleviate the combination of systems.
He is also hopeful for productive talks with the new Government on ways to improve the current blood donation system.
