The head of a local NGO says he would have liked to hear that T&T was further along in making social services more accessible, through digitization, via the 2024/25 budget.
Speaking to 103.1FM News, Revan Teelucksingh, President of SEWA TT, notes that the talk about digitization has been ongoing for years.
He believes the announcement in the budget of the introduction of India’s Unified Payment Interface could assist in this regard.
The Finance Minister noted in his presentation that the Unified Payment Interface is expected to enable economic activity and seamless online services.
Meanwhile, Mr Teelucksingh says one of the highlights of the budget for him was the $2 increase in the public sector minimum wage.
