SEWA TT has launched its annual Shivratri Charity Food Drive.
As part of the initiative, members of the public can contribute towards food packs which will be distributed to persons in need on the night of Shivratri.
103.1FM News spoke with SEWA TT President Revan Teelucksingh who says there are three ways persons can contribute.
They can:
• Donate via Republic Bank Account 8708 0110 7401
• Donate online via Credit Card: https://donate.tegotv.com/sewa-tt/
• Purchase a food pack at a partner supermarket – just ask at the cashier and the contribution would be recorded on your receipt.
Mr Teelucksingh also explains how food pack purchases at the grocery are organized to ensure accountability.
In addition to helping those in need, this initiative will also help the volunteers at SEWA TT, who often step up in times of national emergency.
To become a volunteer with SEWA TT, you can either send a WhatsApp message or text to 333-SEWA, or you can reach out via direct message on their Facebook page and Instagram handle.
While SEWA TT has a number of initiatives throughout the year, the Shivratri Food Drive is particularly close to their heart, as it was the first initiative undertaken when the organization formed 10 years ago.
As for the years ahead, Mr Teelucksingh is hoping SEWA TT can help build a better T&T.
