The United States’ Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for the Western Hemisphere is set for a two-day Guyana visit starting today.

Erikson is responsible for US defense and security policy for the 34-nation region that encompasses Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and South and Central America.

According to Stabroek News, his visit underscores the continued importance the United States places on bilateral defense and security partnership with Guyana in support of regional stability.

During his time in Guyana, he is scheduled to meet with Government, Guyana Defence Force and CARICOM leaders.
