SDA organization denounces publications about Lou Lyons

The South Caribbean Conference of Seventh-day Adventists has denounced the publication of a photo and allegations about Freetown Collective member Lou Lyons following the shooting death of Randall Hector.

Hector was killed after a church service on December 31st, 2024 at the Stanmore Avenue Seventh-day Adventist Church.

In the aftermath, a photo of Lyons, taken from a screenshot of the service’s live stream, was circulated with claims suggesting his involvement in the incident.

South Caribbean Conference of Seventh-day Adventists President, Pastor Leslie Moses, has since sympathized with Mr Lyons for the distress caused by what he deems a regrettable turn of events.

He added that the governing body of the church in no way facilitated or encouraged the statements made about Mr Lyons.

Pastor Moses said, “I take this opportunity to publicly denounce the said publication and references to Mr. Lyons, to sympathize with him in this distress and further to remind all not only of the need for responsibility in the publication and dissemination of information, but also of the need for courtesy, compassion, thoughtfulness and respect for all in so doing.”

There had been reports of a threat of legal action against the South Caribbean Conference of Seventh-day Adventists for defamation.
