Scrap Iron officials are expected to meet the Trade Ministry today to discuss the reopening of the exportation of copper.
A ban on the export of old and scrap metal was implemented in 2022 to crack down on the theft of copper and other materials.
When the ban was lifted at the start of 2023, it was said that restrictions on copper exportation would remain for at least another year.
At 11am today the T&T Scrap Iron Dealers Association will be meeting with the Ministry and will subsequently reveal what came out of the meeting.
