Scrap Iron Dealers write to PM requesting a meeting

The Scrap Iron Dealers Association has written to the Prime Minister requesting a meeting to discuss “pressing issues” affecting the industry.

Association President Allan Ferguson says while he is aware that new regulations are in place to better manage the sector, there are still a number of issues that need to be ironed out to ensure its smooth running.

He adds that this is a “matter of urgency” since it affects thousands of people who depend on the scrap iron business on a daily basis for survival.

In the letter, the Association calls for the meeting to also be attended by Trade Minister Paula Gopee Scoon and Attorney General Reginald Armour.
