Saharan Dust impacts air quality levels in Trinidad

Air quality levels are currently orange and red in parts of Trinidad.

This is due to the moderate to high concentrations of Saharan dust currently in the atmosphere.

The EMA’s AQI shows orange or ‘Sensitive Groups’ for Point Lisas and San Fernando, and red or ‘Unhealthy’ in Port of Spain.

There is no AQI data at this time for Tobago, while readings in Arima are green or ‘Good’.

The Met Service says the highest concentrations are expected over the next few days, from January 31st to February 3rd.

Sensitive persons are urged to take the necessary precautions, including staying indoors, when possible.
