Saharan dust is currently in the atmosphere and impacting air quality.

According to the EMA’s Air Quality Index, San Fernando and Port of Spain were at Orange or “Sensitive Persons” as at 2pm today.

At the same time, air quality readings in Arima, Mayaro, and Point Lisas were Yellow or “Moderate”.

The Met Service, which warned of the increase yesterday, is advising persons sensitive to these changes to take the necessary precautions.

Several days ago, in its 5-Day Weather Outlook, the TTMS also warned that the dust concentration may become high at times in the days leading up to Wednesday.
