Mayaro MP Rushton Paray says the UNC must set a date for its internal elections.

Speaking at a media briefing this morning, Mr Paray says the elections should take place when they are constitutionally due in June 2024.

He also speculated that a deliberate attempt is being made to bypass the poll.

Mr Paray says he was warned that speaking out would be “political suicide”, but still chose to since he believes the membership must be respected.

103.1FM News spoke with the UNC’s Public Relations Officer Dr Kirk Meighoo, who simply stated that the internal election is due this year, and that no announcement has been made by the National Executive indicating otherwise.
