Naparima MP Rodney Charles is warning of legal action against those who continue to say that he had called at the last JSC for additional taxes on the foreign incomes of local artistes.
Following media reports and a release from the Ministry of Tourism that attributed this statement to him, Mr Charles issued a formal denial.
He insisted that he did not issue such a call, and believes there should be no new taxes on artistes or the population at large.
Mr Charles says despite his denial, some media houses continue to attribute the statement to him.
He says his lawyers are compiling a list of all ministers and media houses who “perpetrated this egregious falsehood”, with a view to taking immediate legal action.
His statement also says, “Every attempt to tarnish my legacy will be dealt with frontally.”
