A 45-year-old Rio Claro man has drowned in Shark River, Matelot.

According to a report by Guardian Media, Ronil Balkissoon was at the river around 5pm on New Year’s Day, when he slipped and fell into the water.

He is said to have gotten into difficulty and subsequently drowned.

His body was reportedly pulled out of the water with the help of a passerby.
