Rikki Jai will receive an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT).
Jai is a renowned chutney soca, calypso and soca artiste, and the degree is being conferred in recognition of his sterling contribution in the field of culture.
He is among four persons set to receive honors at the University’s upcoming graduation ceremonies.
The others are:
- Professor Kenneth Julien – an iconic engineer educator and leading figure in the energy sector.
- Captain Rawle Baddaloo – for his significant contributions and achievements in the local and regional maritime industry.
- Ravindra Nath Maharaj – a journalist, poet, activist, social and cultural educator.
Professor Julien and Captain Baddaloo will both receive Honorary Doctorates of Science, while RaviJi will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters.
UTT’s Graduation Ceremonies will be held on November 7th and 8th 2023 at NAPA.
