Rights groups call for urgent action over Gaza power blackout

International rights groups say Gaza hospitals “risk turning into morgues” due to a power blackout and are calling for urgent action.

Gaza’s sole power plant ran out of fuel and shut down after Israel’s decision to cut off supplies following a multi-pronged attack by Hamas.

But the rights groups have condemned the act amid heavy Israeli bombardment.

Meanwhile, Israel says the siege of Gaza will not end until 150 Israeli hostages are released.

They were taken during the Hamas attacks over the weekend.
