A fire has been burning on Monos Island, according to a resident of the island, since Tuesday.

103.1FM News spoke with Rosemary Jardine who said the hillside has been severely burnt and animals are being affected.

She added that the Coast Guard has been helpful, people have been helping other, and no houses have been affected, just yet.

Ms Jardine said the fire is believed to have started at Collin’s Bay where rubbish was allegedly being burned.
