Reports: New POS hospital wing on track for completion

The new 540-bed tower at the Port of Spain General Hospital is reportedly on track to be commissioned early next year.

This is according to reports quoting NWRHA Acting CEO, Retired Major Anthony Blake, who spoke to media on Sunday.

He said the structure, meant to replace the Central Block, is almost finished and tenders for equipment are expected to be issued soon.

The original Central Block was decanted in 2018 following a magnitude 6.9 earthquake.

Patients were relocated to the St James Medical Complex and, according to Retired Major Blake, no patient or staff member was negatively impacted.
