The Re-United Farmers Alliance is calling for the reopening nominations for the Local Government Elections, saying 62 of its candidates were unable to file papers.
According to the party’s leader Davica Thomas, this occurred through no fault of the party and has left them with only 11 candidates for the August 14th polls.
Speaking at the launch of the PEP’s and the Re-United Farmers’ candidates last evening, she alleged that nomination issues arose as the party’s symbol was not on the returning officer’s listing.
Ms Thomas noted that she would not be able to speak much on the matter as a pre-action protocol letter was sent to the EBC.
However, she urged the commission to reopen the nomination process to allow her candidates the chance to contest the election.
