A public consultation will be held tomorrow in Tobago on the removal or retention of specific statues, monuments and signage.
According to the THA, it will be held at the Scarborough Library from 5pm to 7pm.
Citizens are invited to comment on:
1. The criteria that should be established for erecting statues, monuments, or signage in public spaces
2. Suggestions for the removal or retention of specific statues or monuments in public spaces, and the actions that should be taken for those to be removed
3. Suggestions for new statues, monuments, and signage in public spaces
A cabinet appointed committee, chaired by Dr Rita Pemberton, is seeking ensure that the placement of statues, signage, and monuments accurately represents T&T’s collective identity and values as a nation.
The feedback will also assist in developing a policy for the placement and removal of statues, monuments and signage.
