Protesters and security have clashed in Venezuela as uproar continues over Sunday’s election result.
A day after President Nicolás Maduro claimed victory, BBC News says thousands of people arrived in central Caracas, with security responding with tear gas and rubber bullets.
The opposition has disputed Mr Maduro’s declaration, saying its candidate Edmundo González won convincingly with 73.2% of the vote.
Opposition parties had united behind Mr González in an attempt to unseat President Maduro after 11 years in power.
BBC News reports that there has been widespread discontent over the country’s economic crisis.
