Mental health is important when pursuing academic success.

This view was expressed by Nishka Maharaj and Ryker Harricharan, the two President’s Medal recipients for 2023.

Speaking with 103.1FM News today, Ms Maharaj says she made a conscious effort to motivate herself and keep her mental health in check.

This point about balance was also echoed by Mr Harricharan, who gave suggestions on how this can be achieved.

Both attended Hillview College and have also credited the teachers there, as well as their respective families, for helping them on their academic journeys.

As for the future, Ms Maharaj is looking to the medical field, inspired in part by her mother.

Mr Harricharan is also interested in medicine.
