President Christine Kangaloo has called on Parliamentarians to collaborate across the aisle to help fight crime.

Speaking today at the ceremonial reopening of Parliament, she warned that the urgency was “obvious”.

This is one of five areas of focus suggested by Her Excellency for T&T’s Parliamentarians.

Another included giving the steelpan formal and official national instrument status.

Another suggested area of focus is: additional legislation relating to the needs and rights of persons with disabilities.
