US President Donald Trump announced he would impose a 200% tariff on all wines, champagnes and alcohol products imported to the U.S. from European countries.
As trade tensions continue, the latest statement followed the European Union’s decision to enforce new tariffs by April 13th, in a aim to hit back at Mr Trump’s global metal tariffs that started Wednesday.
In a social media post, Mr Trump said he would tax alcohol products from the EU unless it removes the 50% tax on imported American whiskey, adding it would benefit the Wine and Champagne businesses in the US.
