Rovman Powell says destiny is still in the West Indies’ hands despite a loss to England in their T20 World Cup Super Eight opener.
England chased 181 in just 17.3 overs to secure an eight-wicket win at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium last night.
Speaking after the defeat, Captain Powell was asked by the media about the omission of Obed McCoy, who took 3/14 against Afghanistan, temporarily standing in for Romario Shepherd.
Powell expressed confidence that the “better” XI was selected to face England and believes the 181-run target was defendable with good bowling.
He still believes the West Indies will be able to secure one of the two semi-final spots from the group once they play good cricket in the last two games against USA and South Africa.
Meanwhile, the captain was unable to give any information on the situation with Brandon King who pulled up with an injury while batting.
However, ESPNcricinfo is reporting that King is a doubt for the rest of the tournament after suffering a side strain.
