Who will lead the PNM into the 2025 General Election?

That query comes from political scientist Dr Indira Rampersad, who says the unanswered question hints at “mass chaos” within the party.

Dr Rampersad spoke with 103.1FM News today, following the announcement of April 28th 2025 as the date for the General Election.

Dr Rampersad believes the overall sequence of events in recent weeks also points to disarray.

Dr Rampersad says there is also the emerging issue of Vishnu Dhanpaul’s appointment as Finance Minister – questions have been raised regarding the dissolution of the Parliament before he was able to take his oath in the Senate.

Reports have quoted Attorney General Camille Robinson-Regis as stating that the appointment was in order since Mr Dhanpaul took his oaths as both a Senator and a Minister at President’s House on Monday.
