Police find cocaine during anti-extortion operation; three arrested

Three persons have been held with cocaine following investigations into reports of extortion in Arouca and St Joseph.

Police say they conducted an operation in Trincity looking for armed Spanish-speaking nationals who had been extorting other Spanish-speaking nationals for drugs and other valuables.

They intercepted a car along Trincity Central Road North and found cocaine, leading to the arrest of three suspects – a 26-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man, both of St. James and a 19-year-old of Diego Martin.

Police say they are continuing investigations into the extortion matters.
