Prime Minister Stuart Young is currently meeting with financial stakeholders at Whitehall to discuss the country’s forex shortage and other issues.
In his opening remarks, Mr Young acknowledged a decline in foreign exchange and the difficulty experienced by the “small man” in accessing US currency at the banks.
He said today’s meeting is to discuss the allocation of available forex, as well as recent increases in bank charges and service fees.
Today’s meeting includes Finance Minister Vishnu Dhanpaul, Minister in the Finance Ministry Brian Manning, Central Bank Governor Dr. Alvin Hilaire and Vice-President of T&T’s Bankers Association Vice Mr Shawn Moses.
