PM travels to Guyana for meetings

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley will travel to Georgetown, Guyana today to participate in several meetings convened by CARICOM.

Dr Rowley will join regional Heads of Government for the second CARICOM-India Summit and engagement with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The summit will focus on strengthening cooperation in agriculture & food security, health & pharmaceuticals, and science & innovation, among other areas.

Additionally, Dr Rowley – as Chairman of the CARICOM Prime Ministerial Sub-Committee on Cricket – will chair a meeting of the committee.

Later in the week he will also – as Lead Head with responsibility for Crime and Security – participate in CARICOM’s second regional symposium on violence as a public health issue.

The delegation which to accompany the Prime Minister includes Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Dr. Amery Browne, Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs Reginald Armour SC and Minister in the Ministry of Legal Affairs Renuka Sagramsingh-Sooklal.

Energy Minister Stuart Young SC will act as Prime Minister until Dr. Rowley’s return.
