Dominica is hopeful is regaining visa-free travel to the United Kingdom, according to Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.
At a media briefing on Monday, the PM said the Caribbean nation has been working with its UK counterparts to reserve a decision taken last year.
On July 19th, 2023, the UK imposed visa restrictions on Dominican entering the country in a decision “taken solely for migration and border security reasons” and was not a sign of poor relations with these countries.
It said that consideration of the “operation of a citizenship by investment scheme has shown clear and evident abuse of the scheme, including the granting of citizenship to individuals known to pose a risk to the UK.”
PM Skerrit yesterday said that his administration is continuing to work with the UK government and that it had received a letter from former Home Secretary James Cleverly on the situation.
