Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has sent a message to West Indies Captain Kraigg Brathwaite, congratulating the team on its victory over Australia in the 2nd Test over the weekend.
The win was the first for the Windies in Australia in nearly 27 years.
The brief message praised the team for lifting West Indian spirits and hopes, and for creating belief where “hope was lost and where none existed.”
The PM also reminded that this was just the start saying, “having shown the route to be travelled our people will expect you and your colleagues to stay the course for the long journey as you wave the flag to the sound of supporters singing RALLY ROUND THE WEST INDIES!”
Dr Rowley is Chairman of CARICOM Subcommittee on West Indies Cricket.
